Cape Sweden is a Swedish brand that was founded by Ida Ringdahl in the spring of 2014. Ida has her roots in Skåne, in southern Sweden, but lives in Stockholm where she works as head of development at a large real estate company. It was during her maternity leave that Ida’s idea for the cape took shape. One day, as she sat at home on the island of Ekerö with her second baby, she realized that she wished she had a piece of outerwear that made her feel elegant and dressed up at the same time.

I remember when my sister and I used to go with our mother to fabric stores and how mother often said “Girls, choose the fabrics that you love the most, and we’ll go home and sew real clothes for ourselves.”  – Ida Ringdahl.

Ida wanted to give the modern mother, the woman in the midst of her career, a stylish basic for her wardrobe, one with a clean and classic design instead of the usual jackets and sweaters. And so with her mother’s words in mind, she rediscovered her sewing machine and created the cape which soon become a hit among friends and colleagues. Cape Sweden’s mission is to provide classic, timeless capes and outerwear of high quality to women, mothers and their daughters.
